Smithdown Social Arts Hub has grown from a grassroots live-music venue into one of Liverpool’s most inclusive and community-focused creative enterprises.
Founded in 2018 as Smithdown Social Club with a “profit-for-artist” ethos, we evolved - through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—into a multi-disciplinary arts hub supporting visual artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians.
In 2021, we opened Gallery 455 on Smithdown Road, a vibrant exhibition and workshop space that has showcased over a thousand artworks by 100+ local artists.
Our projects have consistently prioritised inclusion and accessibility, offering opportunities for emerging, marginalised and underrepresented creatives.
Supported by community fundraising and innovation grants, Smithdown Social continues to champion creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing across Liverpool’s diverse creative community.
